A personal 12-month forecast reveals the structure of the period beginning now, or on your chosen date, regardless of when your birthday falls.

This is its main difference from a solar return reading.

A solar return covers your personal year, from one birthday to the next.

A forecast for the next 12 months can begin at any time and therefore often spans two different solar return years. In that case, both annual charts need to be analysed and compared.

Why this forecast involves more work than a solar return reading

If a forecast runs from one birthday to the next, it corresponds to one personal year and the analysis centres on a single solar return cycle.

If it begins on an arbitrary date, such as several months before your birthday, the next 12 months span two solar return periods. Two annual charts must therefore be analysed instead of one.

If you also live permanently somewhere other than your birthplace, for each relevant solar return period I examine:

• A chart for your birthplace;
• a chart for your permanent place of residence.

In some cases, a 12-month forecast therefore includes up to four solar return charts, in addition to periods, subperiods, transits and other forecasting methods.

If you are in a third location at the exact moment of one of the solar returns, a chart for that location is also considered.

This is why a personal forecast for the next 12 months is a more extensive piece of work than a standard reading of one solar return.

An important point: where you live and where you are at the solar return

A solar return is sensitive to the geographical location for which the chart is calculated.

In my practice, I therefore take into account both a person's birthplace and where they actually live.

If you have been living in another city or country for a long time, I analyse two solar return charts:

• The chart for your birthplace shows the underlying framework of the year: what connects with your place of birth and the basic structure of life processes.
• The chart for your permanent residence shows the living fabric of that framework: how it takes shape through specific circumstances and events in the reality where you live now.

This is not an optional extra or a comparison of two alternative scenarios. Both charts form part of one analysis: one helps reveal the year's underlying structure, while the other shows how it manifests in your current life. Looking at them together provides a fuller, more multidimensional view of the period ahead.

If you are in a third location at the exact moment of the Sun's return — for example, you were born in Russia, live in the United States and are in Mexico at the solar return — I also analyse the chart for your actual location at that moment.

What matters is your location at the exact moment of the solar return, rather than simply the country where you celebrate your calendar birthday.

The number of solar return charts required can therefore vary, affecting the amount of work and the price of the consultation.
